Academy Awards
I had the pleasure of working on the Academy Awards stage animations one year. It was exhilarating to watch Anne Hathaway and other celebrities standing in front of my work. The design of the stage graphics was based on the interior patterns of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel — the very first venue for the Oscars. Lujan Decima designed the outer rings, which I helped animate. I was the designer/animator for the center part. It features a B&W photograph of attendees from the first Academy Awards sliced into multiple planes for a parallax effect, with added camera flashes to underscore the momentousness of the occasion. It then transitions into a backlit, stained-glass window with Roosevelt patterning. I also designed the title card for the "Adapted Screenplay" category.
